Jest ono usytuowane w parku Foresta Umbra i oferuje przepiękny widok na Zatokę Manfredonia. Leży ok. 54 km od miasta Foggia i 15 km od Manfredonie. Góra, na której miasto się rozpościera jest wapienna i skrywa wiele jaskiń. Monte Sant´Angelo należy do najważniejszych miejsc pielgrzymek we Włoszech. Według legendy pod koniec V wieku ukazał się tu Archanioł Michał, który wskazał jedną z jaskiń i przekazał boskie życzenie, aby przemienić ją w chrześcijańską świątynię. Została ona nazwana Santuario di San Michele Archangelo i stała się jednym z najważniejszych zabytków miasta. Nadziemna część, która schodzi od jaskini była wybudowana w XIII wieku. Po prawej stronie świątyni stoi masywna ośmioboczna dzwonnica pochodząca z tego samego stulecia. Po schodach schodzi się do jaskini, która służy jako kaplica. Wewnątrz znajdują się fragmenty ozdobnych fresków pochodzących z XII w. W 1987 roku świątynię odwiedził papież Jan Paweł II. Kolejnym ważnym zabytkiem Monte Sant´Angela jest romańko-aragoński zamek z X w., który został przebudowany za panowania Fryderyka II. Niedaleko od świątyni znajduje się baptysterium, w którym spoczywa grób longobardskiego króla Rotariego. Obok stoi kościół Santa Maria Maggiore. W południowej części miasta znajdziemy dzielnicę Junno z jej znanymi szeregowymi, białymi domki. Monte Sant´Angelo jest idealnym miejscem na spędzenie wakacji lub długiego weekendu.
